Aikido in Indonesia

Aikido was first introduced in Indonesia in late 1969 by Jozef Poetiray, who is currently the Chairperson of the Teachers Board of the Yayasan Indonesia Aikikai, established on 28 October 1983. Yayasan Indonesia Aikikai certified as the representative of International Aikido Federation (IAF), the Aikido Headquarter in Japan, and also a member of Asian Aikido Federation (AAF).
There are about 1000 Aikidoka (members of the foundation) who practiced in around 30 Dojos under the umbrella of the foundation throughout Indonesia. 20 of them are located in Jakarta.

Tenkei Dojo is a member of Aiki Kenkyukai, a forum of Dojos which emphasises its techniques and overall approach of Aikido to the exploration of Aiki’s principles, concepts, and philosophy, while at the same time maintaining the values of life observed by O Sensei Morihei Ueshiba (the Aikido founding father).
